The Vote for the Environment campaign is a non-partisan campaign promoting the adoption of key environmental policies by political parties. Information will be published to assist voters assess where the parties stand. The environment and recreation groups supporting the campaign are ECO, Federated Mountain Clubs, Greenpeace and the Royal Forest & Bird Protection Society (see below for details). 

The activities of the campaign include:

  • An environmental charter prepared for the 1999 General Election. This sets out the key principles and policy planks that the groups consider should be adopted by all political parties.
  • Survey of political party environmental policy and promises (the results will be available in mid-October)
  • Public outreach activities (details to come)
