The special native plant potting mix was provided by the Southland Community Nursery. It was loaded in to bins from the back of the truck.

The plants were also provided by the Community Nursery. There were ribbonwood, Pittosporum and cabbage trees.
The pupils can be seen filling the plastic bags with potting mix from the bins.

Once the bags were full with potting mix one seedling was planted in each bag.

Gravel was put around the plant to help keep the weeds down, and then the bags were put into Mr Thompson's truck.

More than a truckload of native plants were potted up, which will give us over 250 plants which should be big enough to plant out in the Charlton Wetland next year.

Well done, Mataura School !!
