ANNUAL REPORT: The Annual Report was presented by Murray Horton. The full Report will be published in Watchdog 156, April 2021. Here is a brief summary.
The virus has had very little effect on CAFCA, as Murray works from home.
The annual strategy meeting was postponed for a year.
The Internet connection has changed from copper wire to broadband.
Although things happened in unusual ways, we still got the April 2020 issue of Watchdog out, but a bit late (because of lockdown).
Membership has dropped. Now 315.
Our office printer gets a lot of use, but our biggest cost is the postage for Watchdog.
We have donated money to other campaigns (Minto for Mayor, ABC, the Organiser Account).
The Organiser is paid the living wage.
Watchdog is the public face of CAFCA and thanks are due to various people involved in that.
The Overseas Investment Office has been a continuous campaign since the 1980s. The OIO now sends us previously suppressed details, but some companies are refusing. The OIO is now more willing to prosecute companies.
Various CAFCA people are involved in Keep Our Assets. Publicity arose from various KOA activities. We have relations with a range of other groups. (e.g. Aotearoa Water Action, Sort Out The Dross, Coromandel Watchdog, FIRST Union, MUNZ, RMTU, E Tu, Unite).
We've had various relations with the Government with regard to the Overseas Investment Amendment Bill. It has some good features, but the main thrust is to benefit foreign companies.
Media appearances still happen, but not as much as in the past. Most have been in connection with KOA.
"Islands Of The Empire" is now updated on DVD and premiered in Christchurch.
CAFCA priorities are much the same as 2019. KOA & Watchdog are both major campaigns.

GENERAL BUSINESS: There was discussion about young people, universities, environmentalists, etc.
Public lectures were suggested.
