Final details of protest on Saturday 30 May 1998

If you are interested in taking part in a quiet / silent vigil on the route of the parade, then gather at the park on Lambton Quay (between Ballance and Whitmore Streets) at 11am on Saturday, 30 May.

Some suggestions from the discussion forum for non-confrontational banners / placards : ‘We remember ALL who suffered in the Vietnam war’ - ‘Who suffered most ?’ - ‘Do you still believe in the domino theory ?’ - ‘Reconciliation not celebration’ - ‘There’s nothing to celebrate’ - ‘Aid not Parade’ - ‘Vietnam deserves an apology’ - ‘When will the government apologise?’

If you are interested in leafletting the spectators, leaflets will be available from Megan Hutching or Des Brough at the park.

If you are interested in signing or collecting names for the ‘expressions of regret to the people of Vietnam’, please find John Hampton at the park.

If you are interested in collecting donations for the Viet Nam Reconciliation Fund, please find Jo Horton at the park, or tel (04) 383 8684 to arrange your collection container.

If you do not wish to take part in the protest on the day, then you may like to donate to the Viet Nam Reconciliation Fund (cheques to be made payable to ‘Viet Nam Reconciliation Fund’) - the money raised will go to direct people-to-people aid for Viet Nam, cheques may be send to VNRF c/o PMA.

Also, you may like to collect names on the ‘expression of regret to the people of Vietnam sheet’ - for those of you receiving this by post, a copy of the form is enclosed if you wish to get signatures from your workplace, family or friends. For those receiving this by email, the text is reproduced below, feel free to circulate this on your own email networks.
