NEW ZEALAND FRIENDS REMEMBER KA BEL
Ka Bel was one of those rarest of human beings
whose life made a real difference and whose legacy will
live forever. Those of us who were privileged to spend
time with him remember an extraordinary combination of
his humanity, his unassailable integrity, his sense of
mischief, his strategic capacity to turn his political
and intellectual analysis into militant activism that
worked, his dogged determination to bring the
perpetrators of oppression, injustice and corruption to
account, and his unwavering commitment to struggle at one
with the masses and solidarity with people’s
struggles around the world. His memory is a constant
reminder of our aspirations and, for us lesser mortals,
our failings.
