The School:
Sacred Heart College is a boys’ boarding and day school at 240 West Tamaki Rd, Glen Innes. It is surrounded by several acres of playing fields, allowing for pleasant walks during free time. There is parking within the grounds and on the street outside. It is on a bus route.
Parking:
Enter the grounds through Gate 3 – parking is straight ahead. There are also some parking spaces by the Assembly Hall, through Gate 1 and along the edge of the road.
Transport:
Bus routes 745, 746 and 755, 756 and 757 all pass near Sacred Heart. (Buses 745 and 746 stop 500 metres away at Elstree Shops). Shuttles from the airport cost about $25 for the first person, $5 - $7 for each additional person.
Shops:
Two blocks of shops are within walking distance. The Elstree shops are about 500m from Gate 3. They comprise a dairy, bakehouse, pharmacy and fish and chip shop. The Taniwha St shops are about 300m from Gate 3. They include a combined hot bread/pastry shop/Chinese takeaway, a fruit shop and a superette.
Medical Care:
A medical centre, Baycare (ph 575-2111) is a five-minute drive away at 188 St Heliers Bay Rd. It is open 7 days a week, from 8.30am to 10pm.
B & B on site - Sacred Heart College, Glen Innes:
Includes Fri & Sat continental breakfast at 8am. Linen & blankets are not provided - you will need your own sleeping bag, towels, pillowcases etc. Showers & toilets are on the same floor. Rooms are heated and contain a bed & desk. Tea/coffee making facilities & TV are available in the common room. The entire block can be locked, but individual rooms cannot. We will provide a secure place for valuables.
