To: Those who have registered expression of interest
Kia ora.
Thank you very much for sending in your expression of interest in Treaty Conference 2000. We have been delighted by the response.
An enrolment form and a programme outline are now available. Rachel Way Tremain is our enrolment administrator and can be contacted at treatyconference2000@hotmail.com or (09) 815-3800.
Thanks to those of you who have offered contributions to the programme. We have set aside the first session of the Friday afternoon for these contributions. Further contributions are welcomed. Valerie Ussher, our programme administrator, will contact you in May to finalise arrangements. Valerie can be contacted at pma@xtra.co.nz or (09) 376-0530.
At this stage we would like to make the following points:
- We ask for shorter rather than longer inputs, so that workshop participants can be involved in discussion and the forwarding of ideas that build on the input given.
- We want to see the workshops well facilitated and will provide facilitators for the workshops unless you are actually offering a facilitated process.
- Where some of you are offering to talk in the same area, e.g. cultural safety, we will recommend that you constitute a panel. We will arrange for a chairperson and/or facilitator.
- We encourage all of you giving input to provide a written copy of your presentation. Summary or diagrammatic form will be welcome. These written formats will contribute to the conference publication. Please forward on a disk in Word format or RTF. (Mac users, please put on a PC disk.)
- We welcome the offer of more formal papers which will also contribute to the conference publication. Please forward your paper to us on disk when it is available.
- We welcome the visual displays some of you have offered to bring.
- One or two of you have offered to show a video. Since the purpose of the workshops is strategising towards Treaty implementation, your video could be a short one geared to this purpose. Otherwise, it would be more valuable for you to give background on the making of the video and to show a small section of it. We will have a video space available during the conference for participants to view videos in their own time.
We would be glad if you would pass on information about the conference to those you think would be interested. We circulated our initial flyers widely but we are still meeting people who have missed out on hearing about it.
We look forward to your participation in the conference.
