MISSION STATEMENT

To encourage arts and health practitioners to work together towards better prevention and management of health issues

MEMBERSHIP AND BENEFITS

GOAL: To develop a membership base large enough to support information sharing, utilisation of members' skills and provide a sound financial base

STRATEGIES:

  1. Entice appropriate people to become members
  2. Promote areas of expertise of members
  3. Raise the awareness amongst health practitioners, arts practitioners and the public of the objectives of AMANZ

TASKS:

  1. Create a promotional pamphlet through which to gain new members by 30 October 1999
  2. Prepare up-dated mailing lists by 31 August 1999
  3. Produce listings of members biannually in Newsletters
  4. Continue to seek advertising and discount opportunities by contacting any appropriate businesses and organisations

NEWSLETTER

GOAL: To provide Newsletters

STRATEGIES:

  1. Provide an information network for health and arts practitioners
  2. Give Members the opportunity to have a voice
  3. Publish relevant articles, reviews and advertisements

TASKS:

  1. Produce a minimum of four Newsletters annually.
  2. In 1999/2000:
        - information must be supplied by 31/10/99, 29/2/00, 31/5/00, 31/8/00, 15/11/00
        - newsletters will be circulated by 30/11/99, 31/3/00, 30/6/00, 30/9/00, 15/12/00
  3. Assist in seeking and promoting membership advantages
  4. Invite members and the wider arts and health industries to supply information through each Newsletter and direct mail approaches
  5. Secure a minimum of $200 worth of advertising for each Newsletter
  6. Collate, format, print and post Newsletters

EDUCATION/TRAINING

GOAL: To educate health and arts practitioners

STRATEGIES:

  1. Organise workshops, seminars, conferences
  2. Create dialogue between arts and health practitioners
  3. Stimulate and foster research
  4. Raise standards in training and execution of artistic endeavours
  5. Raise standards in treatment of arts injuries and conditions

TASKS:

  1. Organise a minimum of four seminars in Wellington in 1999 and in 2000
  2. Encourage organisation/partnership of a minimum of 4 seminars in other centres
  3. Address at least two organisations per annum
  4. Assist at least two research projects per annum
  5. Encourage inclusion of arts medicine into Medical School and other allied technical training courses and accreditation

COMMUNICATION

GOAL: To enhance the profile of AMANZ nationally and internationally

STRATEGIES:

  1. Profile AMANZ wherever possible
  2. Provide opportunities for networking

TASKS:

  1. Maintain Internet website
  2. Produce at least 4 Newsletters per annum
  3. Produce a brochure
  4. Write at least 4 articles per annum for other magazines/newsletters
  5. Present a report to the annual SMNZ AGM
  6. Liaise with the Ministry of Education, ACC and other appropriate Government agencies
  7. Maintain communication with BAPAM and other Arts Medicine organisations internationally
  8. Establish a Helpline

ADVOCACY

GOAL: To advocate for safe and informed arts medicine practices

STRATEGIES:

  1. Comment on issues
  2. Respond to situations

TASKS:

  1. Appoint a spokesperson
  2. Read and react on relevant issues
