ABC Updates
16 April 2019
1/ The arrest of Julian
Assange is good opportunity to remind ourselves about Wikileaks on New
Zealand (all 613 pages of US Embassy files, up to 2010)
https://liberation.typepad.com/files/wellington-us-embassy-cables---bryce-edwards.pdf
It is timely to be
reminded, while attention is currently focussed on foreign (i.e
Chinese) interference in NZ politics, that the US has been routinely
doing so for many, many decades.
2/ Who in the Government
thought it was a good idea to authorise a US Air Force B52 bomber to
be the "star" of the February 2019 Wings Over Wairarapa Airshow?

3/ Rocket Lab was
originally touted as a shining example of Kiwi innovation. It has
rapidly morphed into a contractor for the US military, operating from
its NZ launch pad. Here are a couple of articles about it from
The Spinoff
and a more recent one from
the New
Zealand Herald
https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=12221381
This needs to be placed
into context. See
http://www.space4peace.org/ for
the details of the militarisation of space and the internatinola
cmapign to keep space for peace
4/ NZ's "intelligence"
agencies were asleep at the wheel when French State terrorists bombed
the Rainbow
Warrior and when Israeli Mossad agents were running an
identity theft operation in this country. When a fascist mass murderer
ran amok at two Christchurch mosques, they were missing in action once
more. Already the excuses are being offered -they need more money and
resources. Actually, they've got plenty of both. The question is what
they do with them and whom they deploy them against. Guyon Espiner of
Radio NZ asks if the spies were looking in the wrong direction
https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/on-the-inside/385670/guyon-espiner-were-nz-s-intelligence-agencies-looking-in-the-wrong-direction
Spoiler alert - yes.
5/ The forthcoming Royal
Commission of Inquiry into the mosques massacre and the role of the
intelligence agencies is a good opportunity to have an overall look at
spying in NZ. Not just by State agencies but by their contractors
