Waihopai Domebuster Adi Leason Lost His Family Home To Fire. Rebuilding Fundraising Appeal
Dear All,
Along with Peter Murnane and Sam Land, Adi Leason was one of the three
Ploughshares activists who deflated one of the two giant domes at the
Waihopai spy base in 2008. All three were acquitted by a Wellington
jury at their 2010 trial and, although the State then went after them
with a $1 million-plus civil damages suits, that too was dropped. But
the Key government did change the law so that no future criminal case
defendants could mount the same defence that so spectacularly worked
for the Domebusters.
Adi
Leason has been a key anti-bases activist for many years and now he
and his family need help, because their Otaki home burnt down in a
February fire.
I
suggest you also view the video which is in this
Stuff
article. It is the trailer for the excellent independent documentary
"The 5th Eye", about the Waihopai Domebusters' action, and sets the
context of Five Eyes.
Below is the fundraising appeal circulated by Jim Consedine of the
Christchurch Catholic Worker.
Anti-Bases Campaign urges you to support it.
Best wishes,
Murray

Kia
ora e hoa ma,
People have been asking if there is anything
they can do to support the Otaki Catholic Worker people and Leason
family whose house burnt down during Cyclone Dovi. I understand they
lost just about everything in the blaze, which started when electric
wires from a fallen power pole caught alight. They are coming to terms
with their loss and are being supported by many in the Otaki
community.
The best we can do is send money as they will
have many expenses in the weeks and months ahead, the biggest of which
will be rebuilding their home. You may wish to leave your name when
you make your donation so that in time you can it can be acknowledged.
If you wish to you may contribute directly to
